The course

Olivar de la Hinojosa is Madrid's public-access workhorse — 27 holes carved across a former olive grove on the city's north-east edge. The trees still stand on many fairways and the routing keeps them in play; this is target golf for Madrid commuters who play three nights a week and have learned to live with the gnarled trunks. The short par-4s reward the player who knows their own miss.

When to play

Madrid's two-peak season: April through mid-June, then mid-September through November. The meseta heat in July-August is brutal — dawn rounds only. Weekday afternoons after 16:00 are the easiest tee-sheet windows year-round.

Green fee & value

Public-tier pricing — this is the cheapest serious golf inside the Madrid ring. Twilight rates are excellent value in shoulder season. Buggy is optional; the routing walks comfortably.

Access & etiquette

No handicap gate, no membership requirement — this is genuine pay-and-play. Dress code is enforced but not aggressively (collared shirt, no denim). Booking is essential at weekends; the local volume is real.

Getting there

Inside Madrid's ring road, fifteen minutes by car from Barajas airport (MAD), twenty from central Madrid. Metro line 4 (Mar de Cristal) lands you a brisk walk away — rare for Spanish golf and worth the convenience.
