The course

Pepe Gancedo designed Torrequebrada on the cliffs above Benalmádena, and it remains one of the most theatrical routings on the Costa del Sol — fairways that drop toward the Mediterranean, par-3s that ask for nerve, and a closing par-4 that runs back toward the clubhouse with the sea on the right and the wrong-side bunker on the left. The course has hosted tournament-level events over the decades, and the bones still play it.

When to play

Classic Costa del Sol seasonality — October through May for comfort, February through April for the peak snowbird wave. Coastal wind is a genuine factor; afternoons can blow harder than mornings. Summer rounds before 10:00 only.

Green fee & value

Mid-to-upper Costa del Sol pricing with genuine architectural pedigree. The course is older than most of its competitors on the coast, and the design rewards it. Twilight rates are worth the gamble in shoulder season.

Access & etiquette

Handicap certificate typically requested. Dress code is standard Spanish coastal golf — collared shirt, soft spikes, no athletic wear. Booking advisable, especially during European tour weeks elsewhere when overflow traffic finds Torrequebrada.

Getting there

Twenty-five minutes by car from Málaga airport (AGP), five minutes from central Benalmádena. The Benalmádena marina and the <a href="https://playascerca.com/en/city/malaga/" rel="noopener">Playa Santa Ana coastal walk</a> are within walking distance — one of the few Costa del Sol courses where you can genuinely leave the car for the afternoon.
