The course

Greg Norman redesigned El Prat when the club relocated inland to Terrassa in the mid-2000s from its old site near Barcelona airport, and the new course has hosted the Spanish Open repeatedly since. Three nine-hole loops combine into six different 18-hole rotations, each with its own character. The tournament configuration plays as one of the toughest tests on the Iberian peninsula.

When to play

Catalonian inland climate: April-June and September-November are the comfort peaks. July-August are hot but manageable on early tee times. Winters are mild, occasionally wet. Tournament weeks lock parts of the routing — check before booking.

Green fee & value

Premium pricing reflecting tournament-host status. Multi-round and stay-and-play options through the on-site lodge trim the per-round cost meaningfully. Twilight rates worth the patience in shoulder seasons.

Access & etiquette

Handicap certificate (28/36) requested and checked. Strict dress code — collared shirt, tailored shorts or trousers, no athletic wear, jacket required for clubhouse evenings. Booking is essential; tournament-week slots are gold.

Getting there

Forty minutes by car from Barcelona-El Prat airport (BCN) — the airport name is a relic of the club's old location. Twenty minutes from central Terrassa, an hour from central Barcelona. Combine with a Barcelona city break for the architectural contrast or with the <a href="https://playascerca.com/en/region/catalunya/" rel="noopener">Costa Brava beaches at Sitges or Castelldefels</a> for a coastal companion-friendly day.
