The course

The Aranjuez course takes its name and character from the surrounding royal landscape — the eighteenth-century gardens, the Tajo river floodplain, and the historic spa-town atmosphere that has made Aranjuez a UNESCO-listed cultural site. The course was carved into former royal agricultural land south of the palace complex, and the routing reflects its setting: flat to gently rolling terrain, mature tree cover from the centuries-old gardens nearby, and a layout that prioritises rhythm over heroics. This is one of the most genuinely historic landscapes any Spanish golf course occupies, and the round plays at a pace the setting deserves.

When to play

Madrid's southern fringe operates on the meseta calendar: April through June and September through November are at peak comfort, with the Tajo river microclimate adding moderate humidity that extends the spring season slightly later than the open-meseta courses. Summer rounds before 10:00 only — the south-Madrid heat past midday is brutal. Winter rounds are reliably playable and the routing drains acceptably given the river-proximity setting. Weekday mornings find easy walk-on availability outside high season.

Mid-tier Madrid pricing with genuine cultural-bonus value — the round pairs naturally with a visit to the royal palace and gardens, which makes the day-trip combination worth the journey from central Madrid even for non-golfing companions. Twilight rates work well in shoulder season. The course's relative distance from central Madrid keeps the weekend volume below the Puerta de Hierro or Olivar de la Hinojosa equivalents.

Access & etiquette

Casual handicap policy — visitors of all levels welcome. Standard Spanish dress code (collared shirt, no denim, soft spikes). Booking is sensible at weekends, particularly during the spring and autumn cultural-tourism peaks when Aranjuez visitor traffic rises. The clubhouse is well-staffed and the pro shop notably accommodating to visiting players.

Getting there

Forty minutes by car from central Madrid south via the A-4 motorway, an hour from Barajas airport (MAD). The course is five minutes from the Aranjuez royal palace complex and ten from the town's historic centre. Pair the round with the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and the Jardín del Príncipe gardens for a UNESCO-cultural off-course afternoon — one of the most distinctive golf-and-history combinations available within day-trip range of Madrid.
