The course

Robert Trent Jones Sr. shaped this course in the late 1980s on the rising ground behind Marbella town, and his fingerprints are everywhere: long bunkers shaped like falling crescents, kidney greens that reject anything but a true strike, and elevation changes that turn yardage books into rough guidance. The Mediterranean is in view from most tee boxes — gorgeous, distracting, and quietly the reason you misclubbed the par-3 fourth.

When to play

Classic Costa del Sol calendar: October through May is high season for comfort, with February through April peaking for visitor traffic. June and September offer the best balance of weather and price. July and August require early starts; afternoons are buggy-only and tough on the swing.

Green fee & value

Mid-to-upper Costa del Sol pricing for a Trent Jones Sr. design — not cheap, but you are paying for genuine architecture rather than just a postcode. Multi-round and resort-package rates trim the cost meaningfully.

Access & etiquette

Handicap certificate (28/36) typically requested, though casual visitors are welcomed at full rate. Dress code is enforced — collared shirt, tailored shorts or trousers, soft spikes only. Booking strongly advised in season.

Getting there

Forty minutes by car from Málaga airport (AGP) via the A-7 coastal motorway. Marbella town centre is fifteen minutes away. Combine with the <a href="https://playascerca.com/en/city/marbella/" rel="noopener">Playa de la Fontanilla or Cabopino beaches</a> for an after-round swim, or factor in a Puerto Banús evening if your tolerance for marine fashion runs that direction.
